Pennan Village

Getting to Pennan and enjoying the area at it's best really does need a car, although there is a daily service bus service from Fraserburgh to Banff which calls at the road end. Please be aware that the road into the village is not suitable for caravans !
These are the simple directions to get you direct to Pennan, if you like there are more scenic ways. The north east has many scenic routes, one of the better ways to Pennan is to follow the Coastal Trail, either from Aberdeen or Inverness. This is a well signposted tourist route and includes clear local signs to Pennan as you approach. Alternatively, follow the directions below and if you feel up to it deviate at any of the local signs to Pennan. To help you get your bearings have a look at our Google map.

From Aberdeen

Take the main A90 road north out of the city towards Ellon & Peterhead. Approximately 4 miles past Ellon the road forks at the Toll of Birness, the right hand fork is the A90 to Peterhead. You want to take the left fork onto the A952 for Fraserburgh.

Continue on for 10 miles until you enter Mintlaw. At the roundabout take the first exit for the A950 to New Pitsligo.

A further ten miles takes you into the village of New Pitsligo. Follow the main road through the village, about half a mile on the other side of the village is a T junction with the main A98 Inverness to Fraserburgh road. Here you turn right and after only 200 metres take a left signposted for Pennan Follow the road for another five miles and you find the village.

From Inverness

Take the main A96 Aberdeen road out of town. Follow this road as far as Fochabers where the road splits at a mini roundabout. This is where you want to take the A98 to Fraserburgh. After about 35 miles you should see a junction for the A950 to New Pitsligo & Peterhead. DO NOT take this turn, instead turn left about 200 metres past the junction at the sign for Pennan.

Follow the road for another five miles and you find the village.
